Jesus the Yes and Amen of God!

Give yourself no reason to look further than Jesus...

"For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not Yes and No, but in Him it is always Yes. For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory."

2 Corinthians 1:19-20

Wow! What a statement from the Bible. That "all", and you are reading it right, "all", the "promises of God find their Yes and Amen in and through Jesus Christ." To everyone reading this post, God is saying to us that Jesus is it. He is worthy of all the praise and contains all the "promises of God". Let us worship Him for Who He truly is today.

Jesus is according to God's Word:

"Radiating God's glory" and representing "God's exact nature"

(Hebrews 1:3)

The "Image of the Invisible God"

"By Him all things were created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible..."

and "All things hold together by Him"

and "All the fullness of God is pleased to dwell in Him"

(Colossians 1:15-19)

"the fullness of time"

(Galatians 4:4)

"the Way, the Truth, and the Life"

(John 14:6)

"the Mediator between God and man"

(1 Timothy 2:5)

"the Giver of Eternal Life"

(John 3:16)

"the same yesterday today and forever"

(Hebrews 13:8)

"I AM"

(John 8:58)

the One who "died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures..."

"was buried"

"was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures..."

(1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

the One if you "confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved"

(Romans 10:9)

"was made sin for our sake, so we might become the righteousness of God."

(2 Corinthians 5:21)

"standing at the right hand of God and reflecting His glory"

(Acts 7:55)

This list is in no way exhaustive. How could it be? Jesus has no end and will be glorified for all of eternity. Jesus, as God, is immeasurable and goes beyond description in a sense. But one of the best attempts, and my favorite in Scripture, comes from the Apostle John who walked side by side with Him through His earthly ministry. And was bold enough to refer to himself as the one Jesus loved in his Gospel. Yet, as he finishes writing his account of Jesus' ministry in the Gospel of John he ends with this statement describing Jesus: "Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written." (John 21:25) Now that is a Yes and Amen! No container for Jesus. The world is not big enough to box in the Creator of the Universe. Nothing is beyond Jesus.

We should never be concerned about selling God short by lifting Jesus as high as possible in our lives. He not only is uncontainable or immeasurable, but His words are the very words of God. Since He is the image of God and the Son of God, He speaks for God. That is why all the "promises of God are Yes in Jesus". One missionary wrote that his one goal in life is that if he could have one full day where he thought only of Jesus he would be satisfied. And this is the picture of heaven. Being with Jesus our Redeemer who brought the face of the promises of God to man. Philippians 2 says it another way, "He emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of man." God became one of His own creation so He could be one with His creation. This is a promise for all of eternity we will be exalting Him for. His willingness to "empty" Himself. Think on that for a moment. God emptied Himself.

Amen! It means "let it be so." Jesus is the "Amen" of God. I've heard that everyone before Jesus looked towards Him and everyone after Him looked behind. He is the "fullness of time." Everything revolved around Him stepping down from heaven and bringing God to man as the One sacrificing Himself by being willing to die, and even on a cross. This is why when He said on the cross "It is finished" He meant that He had paid for our sin. What He really said was, "Amen." "Let it be so", "I have come and accomplished my work for man." They are now able through me to come to God.

There are so many more things we can say about Jesus. I could type for an eternity and not exhaust this subject of Jesus being the Yes and Amen of God. Will you turn to Him today? He is the foundation of all foundations. The Only One who can truly show you and us grace. Do you need forgiveness today?
