Celebrating 12 Years In Dunn, NC
Christian Emergency Shelters for Men, Women, and Children

(Campbell Volunteers, Continued from page 1)

the students working with us have gotten married during their ministry here, and have actually moved into the staff areas of our shelters with their new spouses to continue in this work. Talk about faithfulness and dedication!
We are very excited that, even after they finish college and move from this area,  many of the students who have worked here at the Beacon Mission have continued being active in the Lord's work somewhere in the world.
Catherine, who lived and worked with us full-time for over a year, is now a  missionary in China with her husband and two children. David worked here another year, found a bride at his home church in South Carolina, and now works at a Rescue Mission in Florida while he continues his education. And Rita, who lived and worked at our shelter with her new husband for several years, has moved into a home nearby and continues to help us minister to the women and children who come to stay at our shelter. She and her husband say they would have loved to continue staying right at the shelter, but when their second child came along the 'quarters' got a little cramped…
It would take many newsletters to tell the adventures of our other Campbell workers, like Mason, who left the shelter work for a couple of months, traveled to Germany where he had met a beautiful lady during an earlier student trip, married her, and brought her back to help supervise the shelter for another year.   If you get a chance to come visit our shelters, you may get a chance to meet some of these young ministers….. like John, who helped supervise our men's shelter before graduating from Campbell last year.
He's now busy in Romania working with orphans at Christian camps. We'll be thrilled to see where the Lord will take him next!

Beacon Emergency Shelters
Each year hundreds of men, women, and children in our community find themselves in need of emergency help. For the past 12 years the Beacon Rescue Mission has been operating  in Dunn to help meet many of these needs.
Our two Christian Emergency Shelters  provide temporary food, clothing, and shelter for those in unexpected crisis situations, such as highway accidents or house fires, who are without the financial resources to acquire immediate aid.
We also provide longer term shelter to people needing to relocate or get a new start in life, and who agree to use no drugs or alcohol and abide by the simple guidelines of the shelters. These people also agree to attend church regularly, and to work and save their money until they can locate decent housing for themselves and their families.
Our Beacon Thrift Stores help raise the funds needed to operate our emergency shelters, and we encourage everyone to shop at these stores in Dunn, Erwin, Coats, Benson, and Four Oaks.
All donations to the Beacon shelters and thrift stores are tax deductible, and are very much appreciated!

Beacon Emergency Shelters
Here at the Beacon Rescue Mission, all of our efforts center around the work of providing food, shelter, clothing, and compassion to those most in need while sharing the Good News of the life and hope that's available through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Most of the men, women, and children we help at our Emergency Shelters are those who find themselves in what we call "emergency homelessness." That is, they are temporarily, and often suddenly, in need of shelter for any number of reasons. There may have been an emergency such as a house fire, a car break-down, or a need to

flee from troubling, or even violent situations.
Some people who come to us for help are those who bravely decide to forsake harmful habits or unproductive lifestyles, or those who need to separate themselves from ongoing negative influences. By staying with us, and agreeing to remain alcohol- and drug-free, these people are given an opportunity to live in peace and safety, to find employment, and to save enough money for permanent housing.
Working together with ocal churches, law enforcement, and area agencies, we at the Beacon Rescue Mission have the joy of seeing hundreds of men, women, and children each year who receive a helping hand, and renewed hope.
  We  welcome your support!
