HOW WE HELP

The goal of the staff here at the Beacon Rescue Mission is to find out why an individual has become homeless.  Many times people end up in bad situations because of poor decision making.  We council with clients to find out more about the situations that led them to the point of becoming homeless.  Once we evaluate someone we help them set some personal goals and help them to stay focused.

These goals include:

Looking for a good job: Everyone is required to find and maintain full time employment.

Saving their income: There is no charge for anyone to stay at the shelter. Food, clothing, and personal supplies are also provided at no charge.  This allows people to save the majority of their income for acquiring housing.

Remaining drug and alcohol free: Addictions is one of the leading causes of homelessness.  Much support and counseling is needed for someone battling these issues to remain clean.  Urinalysis and breathalyzer tests are random and mandatory.

Creating wholesome habits: While staying at the shelter, clients are expected to save their income, be clean, have good attitudes and attend regular church services.  During their stay many clients comment about the positive results they see already forming in their lives.
